Slovenian born filmmaker and artist Natasa Prosenc started making videos and short films during her studies at Academy of Fine Arts in Slovenia. Her projects soon expanded into installations and prints and started to appear in galleries and festivals around the world.
At the same time, she was a writer / director / producer for National Slovenian Television and a correspondent for CNN in Europe.
In 1997, Natasa was granted a Fulbright Scholarship for MFA study at CalArts and moved to Los Angeles.
She represented Slovenia in the 48th Venice Biennale in Italy with her project GLADIATORS, for which she received the Prešeren Fund Award, the Slovene national award for great achievement in art.
She is also a recipient of a Durfee Grant, Arts Link Grant (Soros Foundation) and numerous festival awards for her videos and films.
Her first feature film, SOUVENIR, which was produced by Kanalya Pictures, is a mystery about illegal appropriation of African art. SOUVENIR was released by Cinema Epoch in April 2009. Upon finishing "Souvenir," Natasa optioned several screenplays, which are in different stages of development.
Her current projects include: PLATO'S SYMPOSIUM, a feature film, which is in editing faze, THE DEATH OF SOCRATES, an international feature film collaboration with 23 filmmakers, MUD, a video and print installation for Ruth Bachofner Gallery at Bergamot Station in Los Angeles, and a retrospective of her work at Video Dialoghi Festival in Turin, Italy.
